Family letters, 1861 and 1865-1870 and Earle family history essay, ca. 1900; South Carolina places represented include Darlington, Charleston, and the summer resorts of Chick Springs [in Greenville County], and Springville [formerly located in old Darlington District, now Marion County], S.C.; other places represented include New York and Virginia. Photocopies of letters, 1865-1870 written by members of the Earle family and Minnie Eason and Eason family members to Thomas Transit Earle discussing life during Reconstruction; detailed eight-page letter, 24 July 1861, from "Stone Bridge, Pr[ince] William Co., Va.," written by Confederate soldier T.T. Earle to a single woman whom he addresses as "My dear Coot" in which Earle discusses the July 21st battle of Bull Run; this 1861 letter was bound into the volume following the items dated 1865-1870. Final 22 sheets of volume, written ca. 1900 on letterhead stationery of "Drs. Earle & Earle," of Greenville, S.C., consisting of Biographical sketches of the Earles; photocopies of papers collected and bound by Edward D. Sloan.
